They also more commonly report senior leadership engagement, structured human-in-the-loop validation, and robust KPI frameworks to govern AI deployment.

Navigating Risks: From Accuracy to Compliance

As AI use grows, so too do the risks. McKinsey finds that over half of the organisations using AI report at least one adverse outcome, with inaccuracy being one of the most frequently cited issues. Encouragingly, more firms are investing in risk mitigation than in prior years: data privacy, regulatory compliance, and explainability are now top areas for action.

Workforce Impacts and Talent Dynamics

Regarding workforce size, a plurality of respondents expect little to no change due to AI in the near term, though 32% anticipate a reduction of 3% or more in total headcount. At the same time, many companies are hiring for AI roles: software/data engineers remain in high demand, and new roles — such as AI compliance specialists and ethics experts — are gaining traction.
